Introducing the New Crooked X

Crooked X

Crooked X is back after a 10-month break, featuring a new lineup. Singer Forrest French and bassist Josh McDowell left the band last month and Kevin Currie has taken over vocal duties.

Currie is the former lead vocalist of River City Ransom.

French has started a solo music page and has joined Coweta Christian death-core band Reign in the Unknown.

The new edition of Crooked X will play live for the first time at Rock N America in Oklahoma City at 8:45pm.

The Uglysuit: Yahoo! Music’s “Who’s Next”

Last month, The Uglysuit won the Yahoo! Music “Who’s Next” User’s Choice contest. As the winner of the contest, the band went out to Yahoo!’s Los Angeles studios for a performance of “Chicago” and an interview:

In other news, The Uglysuit’s bassist Matt Harrison has split amicably from the band. Original bassist Jimmy Nimmo will rejoin the band. Harrison will continue to play with his other band, The Fine Print.

Reed Mathis Leaves JFJO

Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey

Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey has announced that founding member Reed Mathis has left the band.

JFJO would also like to wish their best to founding member of 15-years, Reed Mathis, as 2009 will find him exploring other musical endeavors.”

Mathis will join Tea Leaf Green, with whom he has been moonlighting for the past year.

JFJO’s forthcoming lineup with include co-founder Brian Hass and drummer Joshua Raymer. The group will add guitarist and lap steel man Chris Combs and bassist Matt Hayes. Combs, Hayes and Raymer also play together in The Doldrums.

The Agony Scene recruits new drummer

The Agony Scene have recruited Matt Horwitz as their new drummer. The group are currently writing new material for their next album which they plan to begin recording by the years end. A release early next year through Abacus is expected.

Far From Perfect needs new singer

Far From Perfect has decided to part ways with lead singer Caleb Gibson.

The band says this wasn’t an easy decision to make, but felt that it was the best move for both parties. They wish Caleb well in everything he does.

The band plans to audition for a new singer and to hopefully be back out on stage by June.

Tyson leaving The Redbud Revival

The Redbud Revival has announced that drummer Chris Tyson is moving to Hollywood, upon acceptance to the Musician’s Institute. His final shows will be August 19th & 20th at the Belle Isle Brewery & VZD’s, respectively. The band wishes him well.

Also, singer/guitarist Luke Dick has gotten a couple of publishing agreements in Nashville for a couple of country tunes that he co-wrote.

TWTYTLF loses guitarist

This Was The Year To Lose Friends‘ guitarist Jake Breathwit has decided to leave the band after two and a half years. His last show is July 22 at The Opolis in Norman.

Drunk Bastard John joins United Fists

Drunk Bastard John has left Old Major and joined United Fists as their new lead singer. He wishes the rest of Old Major the best of luck in the future.

Since John has left the band, Old Major is now looking for a dedicated new lead singer with a set of lungs.
