‘Holy Tulsa Thunder’ Rolls Into Stores Today!

Beau Jennings - Holy Tulsa Thunder

Beau Jennings (of Cheyenne) releases his solo album, Holy Tulsa Thunder, today via Murkville Music.

The album was produced by Chad Copelin at Blackwatch Studios in Norman, Oklahoma. Joining Jennings on the album are Ryan Lindsey (Starlight Mints) on piano, Jeff Shoop (Rosie Thomas, Ester Drang) on bass and James McAlister (Sufjan Stevens, Pedro The Lion) on drums.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the album at Data Panic or eMusic.

It’s odd that Beau Jennings classifies himself as an indie rocker, considering that his sound resembles artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed and Pat Green more than Spoon or The Shins. All the droning electric guitars in the world can’t hide the fact that this New York songsmith has his heart firmly planted in southern soil … it could just be some of the best you’ll hear this year.
- Soundcheck Magazine

Occasionally channeling the energy of young Bruce Springsteen, other times the delicate vocals of Jeff Tweedy, Jennings has quietly crafted an Americana masterpiece with Holy Tulsa Thunder. It’s Nebraska through a Being There kaleidoscope. It’s a late night requiem for the lost stomping grounds of youth that forever stand tall in our memories. It’s a drinking record. Pour yourself a whiskey and give it a spin!
- Raised on Indie

The claim on the press notes is that this is a drinking album and this is quite true. A bottle of sour mash, a sunny day, and this record would make fine bar-fellows indeed.
- PopMatters

This is a Brooklyn alt-folk suffused with old Midwest.
- CNET Download

The album is terrifically pleasant with hints of all sorts of other alt-country and singer songwriter type bands … it really is a terrific rookie solo release.
