Merry Christmas from Beau Jennings

Last week, we brought you the circa-2004 Christmas sounds of Big Love Hospital, a collaboration of Cheyenne, Evangelicals, Starlight Mints and others.
Today we bring you another original Christmas song by one of BLH’s co-founders, solo artist and Cheyenne-frontman Beau Jennings.
Beau recorded the vocals and guitar in Brooklyn and sent it to Blackwatch Studios in Norman, where Jarod Evans laid down lead guitar and Ben King and Chad Copelin did the rest.
Read Beau’s description of the song after the jump.
“A few years ago I had a particular dream that I still haven’t been able to shake. In the dream, I am standing in a huge empty space of concrete, almost like a parking lot but without the parking lines. It is still dark outside, with just a hint of ambient light but I can’t really see anything in any direction. Next thing I know there are two sources of light appearing on the horizon. They slowly rise higher and higher and I can’t figure out what they are for some time. As they continue to rise the points start to widen and get bigger. Soon I realize that these tips of light rising over the horizon far away are the tips of angel wings. I’m not sure how that became clear, but it was something I suddenly knew without a doubt. They were absolutely huge and terrifying, and I hadn’t even seen the rest. I know from my Sunday School days that anytime anyone ever saw and angel in biblical times they were overcome with fear and terror. Maybe an angel visited me that night, maybe not, I can’t say for sure. I do know the dream was very real to me and I’ve never forgotten it. I also know that while Christmas time usually reminds me of joy and love, more often it reminds me of the mystery of faith. This song, while playful in spirit, is based on that vision and my attempt to make some sense of it, my faith, and the Christmas holiday. I hope you enjoy!”-Beau
