Wanda Jackson to Record with Jack White

Wanda Jackson told The Oklahoman that she is set to record an album produced by Jack White of the White Stripes in Nashville.

Although the collaboration may seem odd coupling to some, this is familiar territory for both artists. In addition to his own bands, White has produced albums for the Von Bondies, Whirlwind Heat, the Greenhornes and Dexter Romweber Duo. He also produced country legend Loretta Lynn’s Grammy Award-winning album, Van Lear Rose, in 2004.

“They had a super album, but he didn’t have her do anything different. She just did her little Loretta Lynn songs. But he told me he’s gonna stretch me some, so we’ll see.” - Wanda Jackson

Jackson’s last album, 2003’s Heart Trouble, featured Elvis Costello, the Cramps, Dave Alvin, Rosie Flores and others.

Expect to hear a digital release from the unlikely duo in the near future.
