2010 Oklahoma Idol hopefuls

Three Oklahomans, Thaddeus Johnson (Oklahoma City), Kellye Vetter (Edmond) and Michael Preston (Oklahoma City), have advanced to the Hollywood Week of American Idol: Season 9.

Vetter and Preston have made it to the Hollywood round before, but were eliminated before the Top 24 were selected.

The reality singing competition has been kind to the Sooner state in its past eight seasons:

Checotah’s Carrie Underwood won the fourth season of the show. Since then, she has become a multi-platinum selling artist and multiple Grammy Award winner.

Tulsa’s David Cook won the seventh season of the show. His self-titled debut album went platinum.

Tulsa’s Melinda Doolittle was a finalist in season six. Her debut album, Coming Back to You, was released last year.

University of Oklahoma student George Huff placed fifth in season three. His 2005 album, Miracles, sold over 18,000 copies and his song “A Brighter Day” was featured in the Tyler Perry movie “Why Did I Get Married?”
