Hinder’s Austin Winkler Arrested for DWI

Hinder’s Austin Winkler

Austin Winkler, lead singer of Hinder, was arrested late Saturday night in Jonesboro, Arkansas on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. With Hinder boasting of their hard partyin’ and bed wetting, this was bound to happen sooner or later.

Winkler told police he had a few glasses of wine at his engagement party. Police administered a breathalyzer test at the scene, where he allegedly blew a 0.16 — twice the legal limit in Arkansas. According to the Jonesboro Sun, an officer conducted the traffic stop after spotting an SUV traveling without headlights on.

“I could smell a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle,” Patrolman Anthony Zaffarano wrote in his report. “I advised Mr. Winkler for the reason of the stop. The female in the backseat advised the driver (Winkler) to turn the knob to activate the lights instead of just the daytime running lights. Mr. Winkler advised the vehicle was not his. The female in the back seat advised the vehicle belonged to her.”

The singer was taken to the Craighead County Detention Center, where he was given a blood alcohol content test and those results showed a 0.15, according to police.

Winkler was cited and scheduled to appear in Craighead County District Court on January 2.
