After six years as a band
and almost two years signed with
Flicker Records, Subseven
will be taking a break as a band.The band says there is still a possibility they may piece back together as something else is the future, but for now they'll be spending time with family and friends and seeking God's next step for them. The band wants to thank their fans for coming to their shows, buying their merchandise, voting for them on TV and radio and supporting them throughout the years. |

of bands, which includes The Long Winters, Nada Surf, John Vanderslice,
Rocky Votolato and Oklahoma's own
Aqueduct.The band has completed their new record, Drowaton, and are in the middle of mastering. April 25 is set as the release date. The album will be the band's first since 2003's Built on Squares. |

After two
years as a band,
American Ruse
has decided
to call it quits. The band wants to thank everyone who supported
them along the way.The band will be featured in the third volume of Flattery: a tribute to Radio Birdman, set for release in early 2006. American Ruse is the only band from the United States on the album. Also, Dead City Records in Austin, Texas is in talks with American Ruse to release a split with Electric Frankenstein. This is still in the very early stages and Electric Frankenstein personally picked them as their first choice to do a split EP with. |

Paris is calling it quits.Chase Kerby is moving to Nashville to pursue a solo career. Drew Hall, Craig Bennett and Eric Pennell will work on new projects. Their farewell show will be Friday, October 14 at The Conservatory in Oklahoma City. |

Tulsa World Spot Magazine has announced the 7th Annual SPOT Music Awards. You can vote for awards in 16 categories that range from rock and country to hardcore and hip-hop. Readers can vote with the paper ballots included in Spot Magazine, as well as online at tulsaworld.com. Deadline to vote is midnight, Friday, September 9. The awards ceremony is set for Saturday, September 24 at Cain's Ballroom. Advance tickets are $5 and $8 at the door. Doors will open at 7pm with the show beginning at 8pm. |

Redbud Revival has announced that drummer Chris Tyson is moving
to Hollywood, upon acceptance to the Musician's Institute. His final shows
will be August 19th & 20th at the Belle Isle Brewery & VZD's,
respectively. The band wishes him well.The Redbud Revival will be releasing a new record in late September. You can preview some tracks online here. Also, singer/guitarist Luke Dick has gotten a couple of publishing agreements in Nashville for a couple of country tunes that he co-wrote. |

In addition to the bookstore, The Electric Chair, a 3000 square foot music venue and art gallery, will also be opening in the building. Book Beat & Co. has been a source for rare and obscure books and music in Oklahoma City since it opened in 1997. |

Country singer
and Oklahoma native
Jewel "Sammi" Smith, known for her trademark ballad, "Help Me Make It
Through The Night," and a knack for sharing everyday life in her music,
died Saturday. She was 61.Smith died at home after a long-term illness; the Guardian West Funeral Home did not release further details. Smith won a Grammy for best country vocal performance-female in 1971 for "Help Me Make It Through The Night," which was written by Kris Kristofferson. Smith produced her first hit, "So Long Charlie Brown," in 1967. Six years later, she moved to Dallas, where she joined the "Outlaw Movement" with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Smith also found time to celebrate her Apache heritage. She was a frequent visitor to an Apache reservation in Arizona, where she made pottery and jewelry. |
